Clinical Supervision
Integrative Supervision

Supervision should expand you — clinically, professionally, and personally.
Not just keep you safe, but move you forward.
Over the years I’ve worked with many supervisors, each bringing their own presence, depth and way of seeing. Those relationships shaped my practice more than any textbook ever could. Supervision, at its heart, is the relationship that supports every other relationship we hold.
As therapists, we know supervision helps us navigate complexity — risk, ethics, unconscious processes, the emotional weight of the work. That’s essential, but it’s not the whole picture.
We’re also growing as practitioners and as professionals. There’s the constant pull to deepen our therapeutic understanding, to explore new models, training, and ways of working. There’s the practical pathway of building a sustainable practice — making decisions about clients, contracts, referrals, niches — where a single wrong turn can set us back months. And then there’s the reality of running a business: admin, diary systems, notes, finances, websites, advertising… the unseen labour that quietly shapes the work.
I offer supervision that holds all of this. It’s theoretically grounded, relational at its core, and rooted in the real pressures of modern practice. Whether you work short-term or long-term, my aim is to provide a collaborative space where your clinical thinking sharpens, your ethical ground stays steady, and you feel professionally supported and nourished.
I’m Luke Brownlee-Williams, a BACP Accredited Counsellor, Supervisor and Trainer with over 15 years’ experience working in complex clinical settings and a decade running successful private practices. I bring a blend of counselling & psychodynamic depth, relational clarity, and grounded business intelligence to the supervisory relationship.
My Approach to Supervision
My work is rooted in the Seven-Eyed Model (Hawkins & Shohet), allowing us to explore your practice from multiple perspectives: your client, your interventions, the dynamics between you, the wider context, and our supervisory process.
Supervision with me is structured around three core pillars:
1. Formative — Deepening Your Clinical Thinking
We develop your therapeutic capacity:
Transference / countertransference awareness
Holding complexity
Working with long-term or depth processes
Developing your unique therapeutic voice
2. Normative — Ethical, Safe, Contained
I help you navigate ethical dilemmas, risk, boundaries, and professional standards. You’ll feel held, supported, and confident in your clinical decisions.
3. Restorative — Supporting You, Not Just the Work
Therapy is emotionally demanding. Supervision is where you process the impact, prevent burnout, and keep yourself resourced for the long-term.
Beyond the Clinical: Building a Sustainable Practice
Alongside my therapeutic work, I’ve built and run a six-figure limited company and several private practices. This gives me a practical, grounded understanding of:
Growing a caseload
Managing finances and admin
Building a referral pathway
Contracts, marketing, tax, and systems
Thriving as a self-employed therapist without burning out
If you’re developing or scaling a private practice, I can support you with the business realities as much as the clinical ones.
Who I Work With
I supervise:
Trainee Counsellors — linking theory to practice, placement work, and early professional identity.
Qualified Counsellors & Psychotherapists — seeking depth, containment, and a supervisor who respects the complexity of long-term work.
I particularly welcome practitioners working from integrative, psychodynamic, or relational models who value depth, curiosity, and reflective rigour.
