Reflective Practice Groups
Space to Reflect, Room to Grow: Professional Reflective Practice for a Sustainable Career
In the demanding world of the helping professions, the space to pause, reflect, and recharge is not a luxury—it is essential. Yet for many of us, especially those running our own practice or working independently, that space is the first thing to disappear. You're juggling client needs, business administration, and your own emotional responses, often feeling isolated in the process.
My professionally facilitated Reflective Practice Groups are designed to give you that space back. They are a confidential, supportive, and structured environment where you can step away from the daily pressures, connect with peers who understand, and explore the complexities of your work. This is a place to deepen your self-awareness, enhance your resilience, and return to your practice with renewed clarity, confidence, and purpose.
What is Reflective Practice?
Reflective Practice is a structured process of learning through experience. It goes beyond case supervision. Instead of focusing only on the client, we turn our attention to you: your responses, your challenges, and your growth as a practitioner. In a small, consistent group, we use established models like Gibbs' Reflective Cycle and the Seven-Eyed Model to explore the emotional, relational, and ethical dimensions of your work in a way that fosters insight, reduces burnout, and leads to more effective and sustainable practice.
Who Are These Groups For?
These groups are designed for anyone working in a demanding role with people, but they are especially valuable for:
Therapists, Counsellors, and Coaches: Whether you are newly qualified or highly experienced, these groups provide vital peer support and a space to deepen your clinical thinking.
Freelancers and Solo Practitioners: If you work alone, this is your team. It’s a place to combat professional isolation, share challenges, and gain the perspective that is so difficult to find on your own.
Small Practice Owners: For those of us who are both practitioners and entrepreneurs, this group offers a unique space to reflect on the dual challenges of clinical work and business management.
Health and Social Care Professionals: Navigate the complexities of working within larger systems, manage the emotional toll of your role, and find strategies for maintaining your wellbeing.
Leaders and Managers: For those supporting teams in the voluntary or public sectors, this is a space to reflect on your leadership style and the dynamics of your team.
Introducing Your Facilitator, Luke Brownlee-Williams
I'm Luke, a BACP Accredited Counsellor, Supervisor, and Mental Health Trainer with over 15 years of experience across the NHS, university settings, and private practice. I create warm, grounded, and psychologically informed spaces where professionals can speak freely, reflect critically, and grow.
My approach is built on a foundation of lived experience.
As a fellow practitioner who has built and runs my own successful limited company, I uniquely understand your journey. I've navigated the challenges of marketing, managing finances, and the profound isolation that can come with being self-employed. This group is a dedicated space where we can reflect not just on your client work, but on the equally important work of building a sustainable and fulfilling practice.
My extensive front-line experience within the NHS means I have a grounded understanding of the pressures of working in high-stakes, target-driven environments. I can help you navigate systemic challenges and maintain your own resilience. My ongoing work as a clinical supervisor for the University of Bristol and UWE ensures our reflective work is rigorous, ethically sound, and informed by best practices.
My practice is trusted by major UK healthcare insurers, a testament to the professional and confidential standard of my work. When you join my group, you can be assured you are in safe, experienced hands.
