Deepen Your Practice: Integrative Psychodynamic Supervision in Stroud or Online
Are you seeking a reflective, challenging, and supportive space to explore your clinical work? As an integrative psychodynamic therapist, you understand the importance of a supervisory relationship that can hold complexity, explore unconscious processes, and support you in your growth.
I offer supervision that is both theoretically robust and grounded in the realities of practice. Whether you are working with clients short-term or in long-term therapy, my aim is to provide a collaborative space where you can enhance your skills, maintain ethical standards, and feel professionally nourished.
My Approach to Supervision
My approach is relational and psychodynamically-informed, structured around the comprehensive Seven-Eyed Model of supervision (Hawkins & Shohet). This holistic framework allows us to explore the work from multiple perspectives: focusing on your client, your interventions, the therapeutic relationship, your own process, our supervisory relationship, my own reflections, and the wider context. I have extensive experience with mindfulness, NLP and various coaching strategies
Within this model, our work will be guided by three essential pillars:
Formative (Developing Your Skills): We will work to deepen your understanding of psychodynamic concepts in practice, paying close attention to dynamics like transference and countertransference. This is a space to develop your unique therapeutic style and grow your professional confidence.
Normative (Ensuring Ethical Practice): We will ensure your work is held within a safe and ethical container. You will be supported in navigating complex dilemmas and upholding the professional standards of bodies like the BACP and UKCP, protecting both your clients and yourself.
Restorative (Supporting You): The emotional weight of therapy is significant. A core part of our work is creating a space for you to process the impact of your clients' stories, manage the demands of the role, and cultivate the resilience needed to prevent burnout and sustain a long-term career.
Beyond the Clinical: Building Your Practice
My experience extends beyond the therapy room. As a self-employed practitioner who has also founded and run a successful limited company (Brownlee & Ivy Cafe in Canterbury), I bring a grounded, real-world understanding of what it takes to build and sustain a thriving private practice.
For supervisees, who are self-employed or considering this path, I can offer a unique perspective on the practicalities of business management, marketing, finances, and navigating the personal and professional challenges of being your own boss.
